Job Summary
Assemble test racks, servers, and switches with organized cable interconnections and COTS/GOTS software configurations. Control equipment movement and track assets for government and company use. Support new lab planning regarding layout, power, and cooling while generating bills of material and tracking lead times. Conduct formal and informal tests to validate requirements, troubleshoot hardware failures, and install checkout IA software across multiple sites. Analyze documentation to develop validation methods and create test planning documents and reports. Communicate project issues to management as necessary. This role supports the Cybersecurity team for U.S. Navy Submarines in Manassas, VA, requiring a mix of technical assembly skills and analytical problem-solving abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Able to Obtain a Clearance
- Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering
- 5+ years' of Submarine Combat Control Weapon System experience or BS in one of the following disciplines: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technician or a related field, or 5 years experience working in one of these disciplines
- Ability to assemble and test computer equipment
- High level of knowledge of Microsoft Office: Microsoft Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Understanding of networking, protocols, e.g. UDP, TCP/IP, ICMP, encryption, etc.
- Demonstrable evidence of an analytical approach to problem solving
- Must be highly motivated and excellent attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic Linux command-line knowledge
- US Citizenship
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Degree or work experience in cybersecurity is a benefit
- Cybersecurity certification a plus
- Ability to read C, C++, and Java source code helpful but not required
