Job Summary

Develop hardware design specifications and perform PCB-level design, implementation, and verification for telemetry and mission-critical communications solutions. Conduct system-level analysis covering concept through maintenance, ensuring logical conversion of requirements into solutions that meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Lead architecture planning, generate functional block diagrams and schematics, and execute design analysis including circuit modeling, FPGA simulations, and signal integrity testing. Oversee layout, support first-article procurement and debug, and write release documentation while coordinating with software and other departments for system integration. Maintain existing products for enhancements and handle parts obsolescence in accordance with QMS processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of hardware technologies with 7 years' experience of relevant industry experience
  • Able to be tasked with VHDL code development and FPGA design
  • Previously performed high-speed signal integrity analysis
  • Experience with RF design and debug techniques
  • Exposure to, and experience with, EMC/EMI and Environmental qualification processes
  • Familiarity with basic communication interfaces such as USB, RS232, Ethernet
  • Proficiency using Active-HDL, Matlab, QuartusII, Cadence, PSPICE, MS Office
  • Proficiency with classic HW lab tools such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, etc.
  • Security Clearance level not required immediately but must be able to qualify and obtain when necessary
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or Master's degree in electrical engineering (MSEE) preferred; 4-year Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline such as Computer Engineering will be considered

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PCI and/or PCI Express, preferably with practical experience
  • Knowledge of Ethernet down to the physical layer, preferably with practical experience
  • Good understanding of practical techniques for noise reduction / control and electrical susceptibility immunity
  • Successful track record of completed design efforts
  • Ability to cohesively work with a diverse team and multiple departments
  • Ability to drive a project through to success within a standard process framework with minimal oversight
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to validate requirements and synthesize complex technical details and design solutions to meet them
  • Ability to resolve technical issues spanning multiple technical and/or functional areas
  • Experience using basic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multi meters
  • The ability to efficiently drive a successful product development cycle from concept through production
  • 4+ Years; early to mid-career professional hardware engineer with telecommunications and / or telemetry data systems background desired
