Job Summary
Develop pluggable optical/electrical transceiver and cable assembly specifications based on industry standards and MSAs. Engage with optics transceiver vendors on specifications for optical product definition and create module test plans to address verification requirements. Build test stations using optical and electrical equipment, develop automation software to execute tests and store results, and conduct performance characterization and qualification tests. Process data to generate test reports and work with Signal Integrity, System Hardware, and Software teams on optics integration. Support customer service teams with failure root cause analysis and external optics certification and interoperability testing. This onsite role in Sunnyvale, CA, requires a hybrid schedule of up to three days in the lab and focuses on 100G/400G/800G/1.6T modules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years of optical transceiver module specification and test experience
- comprehensive knowledge of optical equipment, electrical equipment, and automation software used in the testing of optical modules and interfaces
- Must possess written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly process and present test results
- Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Must be able to work in a mutually supportive team environment
- Must be able to engage with optics transceiver vendors on HPE's optics transceiver specifications and requirements for optical product definition
- Must be able to create optics module test plans to address verification requirements
- Must be able to build test stations using optical and electrical test equipment
- Must be able to create test automation software to execute tests and store results in database
- Must be able to conduct performance characterization and qualification tests
- Must be able to develop software to process data and distill results
- Must be able to generate test reports
- Must be able to work closely with Signal Integrity, System Hardware and Software engineering teams with optics integration in HPE routing/switching/security systems
- Must be able to support HPE Customer Service teams with pluggable optics failure root cause analysis
- Must be able to support external optics certification and interoperability with 3rd party networking equipment
- Must be able to work from an HPE office
- Must be able to work up to 3 days in a lab in our Sunnyvale, CA office
- Must be able to develop pluggable optical/electrical transceiver and cable assembly specifications and requirements based on industry standards and MSAs, e.g. IEEE, OIF, SNIA SFF
