Job Summary
Hardware Engineer at e-STORAGE (CANADIAN SOLAR INC. family) focused on schematic design and PCB layout for inverter control boards and power interfaces used in battery energy storage systems. Responsibilities include translating requirements into complete schematic designs, selecting components for digital, mixed‐signal, and power circuits, defining hardware interfaces between PCBs and high‐voltage/power stages, designing multilayer PCB layouts, ensuring signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal performance, adhering to UL/IEC standards, and delivering manufacturing artifacts (schematics, Gerbers, BOMs, assembly drawings). Role involves prototype bring‐up, testing, root‐cause analysis, design reviews, ECOs, cost-down activities, supplier coordination, and cross‐functional collaboration with firmware, FPGA, systems, and mechanical teams. The position requires hands‐on hardware development experience, strong documentation, and a commitment to safety and certifiability, with on‐site work in Kitchener, ON.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in schematic design and PCB layout for embedded systems, power electronics, or industrial equipment
- Experience designing hardware for power converters, or other high‐reliability electronic systems
- Experience supporting designs subject to safety and regulatory standards such as UL, IEC, or equivalent certifications
- Hands‐on experience supporting prototype builds, lab validation, and production release
