Job Summary
Fabricate, assemble, and finish handrails, guardrails, and related metalwork to meet project specifications. Read shop drawings and blueprints, measure/carefully cut and form steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components, and weld handrail sections using MIG/TIG/arc processes. Grind and finish welds for priming/painting/plating, assemble systems for shop testing and final fit-up, and prepare components for shipping or installation. Maintain material takeoffs, parts lists, and fabrication records; inspect components for dimensional accuracy and quality. Adhere to safety policies, maintain a clean work area, and collaborate with estimators, project managers, and installers to meet schedules. May operate forklifts and travel to job sites as needed; overtime may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and templates for handrail systems.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, shape, and form steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components using saws, brakes, rollers, and press brakes.
- Fit, tack, and fully weld handrail sections, posts, balusters, and brackets using MIG/TIG/arc welding as required.
- Grind, sand, and finish welds and surfaces to prepare for priming, painting, or plating.
- Assemble handrail systems for shop testing and final fit-up; prepare components for shipping or installation.
- Maintain accurate material takeoffs, parts lists, and basic fabrication records.
- Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and quality; correct defects.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow company safety policies and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and installers to meet schedules and client specifications.
- Operate forklifts or lifting equipment as needed (certification preferred).
- Occasional travel to job sites for fitting/installation may be required.
