Job Summary

Evaluate and treat the full spectrum of hand, wrist, and elbow conditions, including trauma, degenerative arthritis, and nerve compression syndromes. Perform soft-tissue, tendon, and nerve reconstruction, including microsurgical procedures, and manage acquired hand deformities and post-traumatic reconstruction at the Level I Trauma Center. Supervise orthopedic residents and medical students in clinic and the operating room as part of the dedicated Hand rotation while documenting care using the GW Hospital electronic health record. Participate in the hand call rotation covering the Emergency Department.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery/Plastic Surgery/General Surgery residency
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Hand Surgery
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Surgery of the Hand
  • Equivalent certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery or American Board of Surgery pathway
  • Active or eligible District of Columbia medical license
  • Eligible for and able to maintain medical staff privileges at GW Hospital
  • Eligible for and able to maintain a faculty appointment at GW SMHS
