Job Summary
Freelance Haitian interpreter/translator needed to join a network of interpreters for on-demand appointments in the Philadelphia area. Role is a 1099 independent contractor with appointments Mon–Fri, 8 am–5 pm, and pay at $25–$30 per hour based on availability, experience, and demand. Responsibilities include interpreting in medical, legal, or educational settings, maintaining professionalism and punctuality, and coordinating with teams as needed. Requirements include fluency in English and Haitian Portuguese and/or Portuguese, prior interpreting experience, ability to work independently, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship. High School Diploma or equivalent (or interpreting certification) required. Training and onboarding steps include background checks and a skills assessment after qualifying. Required Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Portuguese
- Previous interpreting experience, preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate basic communication
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship)
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or certification in interpreting or related fields
