Job Summary
Greet and welcome clients while conferring to determine their hairdressing needs, preferences, and specifications. Advise on suitable cuts, hairstyles, and colors based on physical features, then cut, trim, and shape hair, wigs, extensions, and toupes according to client requests. Perform shampooing, conditioning, and drying, and provide coloring treatments after inquiring about sensitivities and allergies. Style hair using tools like straighteners and curling irons, while cleaning and sterilizing all instruments to meet health and safety standards. Operate the cash register to process payments. Maintain a clean work station and recommend suitable hair care products. Identify chronic scalp conditions and advise clients to seek medical treatment when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's degree in cosmetology or completion of a state-approved cosmetology program
- Appropriate state licensure
- The ability to stand for extended periods
