Job Summary
Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures while performing service activities for customer and fleet equipment. Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions, then repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and hydraulic components. Conduct pre-delivery setup and installation on Caterpillar equipment and allied products. Write service reports and prepare documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards. Operate company or personal vehicles as needed and work overtime within labor law guidelines. Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field
- Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Member of Local 3 of the Operating Engineers
- Willingness to become a member of Local 3 of the Operating Engineers as a condition of employment
- Ability to operate company or personal vehicle
- Ability to work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines
- Ability to maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship
- Ability to analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions
- Ability to perform pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products
- Ability to repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems
- Ability to write service reports that accurately document activities
- Ability to prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner
- Ability to perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
- Ability to follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work and to preserve and document component failure information for accurate failure analysis
