Job Summary
Conduct analysis, design, implementation, and test activities for guidance systems within the Advanced Guidance Lab. Support ongoing Internal Research & Development in inertial guidance, including guidance concepts, test equipment development, and Position Navigation & Timing tools. Operate basic laboratory environments and equipment while delivering innovative solutions to meet changing customer needs. Apply scientific backgrounds and experience with MATLAB, electronics, and embedded programming to advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology. Perform work assignments under minimal supervision, supporting frequent communications across Integrated Product Teams. Maintain alignment with industry best practices and GDMS culture while complying with all policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Master's degree, plus 6 months of relevant experience
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire
- Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- U.S. citizenship
- Must demonstrate a scientific background
- An understanding of Guidance Navigation & Controls
- Experience with MATLAB
- Engineering systems
- The ability to further advance GDMS technology
- Demonstrate passion for innovation
- A sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems
- The ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology
- Knowledge and understanding of electronics and electrical systems
- Operations of basic laboratory environments and equipment
- Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
- Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy
- Comply with all policies and procedures
- Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practice
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
- AI experience
- Circuit design and analysis
- FPGA design
- Closed loop control
- Simulation and modelling experience
- Experience with embedded programming (C, C++, Python, JavaScript) and microcontrollers
- Basic knowledge of inertial sensors
- Familiarity with Estimation theory, filtering, and data reduction
- Agile Method experience
- Familiarity with LabView
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Perform work assignments under minimal supervision
- Support frequent communications within and across Integrated Product Teams
Desired Qualifications
- Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)
