Job Summary
Engineering manager role leading a Guidance Navigation & Controls (GNC) team within Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in El Segundo, CA. Responsibilities include providing technical and programmatic guidance to GNC programs, overseeing a discipline team, coordinating staffing with IPTs, establishing design processes and common tools, managing budgets for personnel, and interfacing with customers to define study areas and report status on technology development. The role combines ~20% functional management with ~80% hands-on engineering across Flight Sciences and Vehicle Controls, supporting IRAD/CRAD efforts and ensuring readiness across subsonic, supersonic, or hypersonic aircraft or missile systems. Mandatory qualifications include a STEM degree with several years of leadership and GNC experience, and a Secret clearance (with SAP eligibility). Relocation assistance may be available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 9 years of relevant professional/military experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of relevant professional/military experience
- Prior leadership experience within an engineering team environment
- Background in Flight Sciences and Vehicle Controls Design & Analysis
- Guidance Navigation & Controls (GNC) knowledge with experience analyzing subsonic, subsonic, or hypersonic aircraft or missile systems
- Active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance
