Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer
$110,000–$200,000 year
On-site · Los Angeles, California, United States
Job Summary
GNC engineer role focused on developing and validating the navigation and control architecture for large, flexible-spacecraft structures, including algorithm design for precise pointing, 6-DOF simulation development, and contributing to flight software verification and validation. Responsibilities include creating novel GNC algorithms, supporting the Trinity mission deployments of multiple K2 spacecraft buses, and contributing to the GNC organization through mentoring and recruitment. Key activities involve research-driven trade studies, developing time-domain and frequency-domain analyses, and integrating simulation tools (6-DOF) with HOOTL/HITL testing to drive flight readiness. Proficiency in Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development is required; experience with EKFs, trajectory analysis, and space-system design is highly relevant. Compensation includes base salary and equity with a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with GNC actuator or sensor sizing, selection, and system design
- Experience with implementing control and/or estimation algorithms
- Experience with verification and validation of GNC flight software in an integrated environment, leveraging 6-DOF simulation and HITL testing
- Experience with Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development, implementation, and simulation
