Job Summary
Guidance Counselor position at Beecher High School tasked with registering and orienting students, assisting with course and subject selection, interpreting standardized test results for planning, maintaining confidentiality of student records, supporting college applications and financial aid, organizing career conferences and informational sessions with college/armed forces reps, updating course descriptions and enrollment forms, and conducting regular counseling sessions across grade levels to promote student growth and reduce dropout risk. The role requires a Michigan Guidance and Counseling Certificate with NT endorsement, a Master’s Degree in educational guidance or related fields, and at least two years of paid high school guidance experience. The employee must pass reference checks and fingerprinting and will work under BEA guidelines with annual salary as determined by the BEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The district emphasizes nondiscrimination and requires accompanying application materials (resume, credentials, and letters of recommendation). The position includes duties such as counseling, testing coordination (M-STEP, ACT, NWEA), career planning, and collaboration with school administration.
Required Qualifications
- A valid State of Michigan Guidance and Counseling Certificate with a (NT) endorsement.
- A Master's Degree representing intensive course work in the principal's and practice of Educational guidance; educational testing and measurement; counseling; the organization and administration of guidance services; and the psychology of learning.
- Two (2) or more years of paid work experience as High School Guidance Counselor.
