Job Summary
Check guests in and out, collect monies for services rendered, and confirm full payment at checkout. Handle departmental accounting of receipts and guest accounts, post charges, complete cashier reports, and balance the bank daily. Issue and control safe-deposit boxes, distribute mail and packages, and manage key control. Review room inventory, block large group check-ins, and run daily arrival reports to identify special requests. Maintain a clean work area, perform side work and cleaning duties, and follow all company policies. Confirm credit and payment methods, distribute billing reports, and ensure proper deposit procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need
- Must be able to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function
- Must be able to handle departmental accounting of monies, receipts, guest accounts and other forms of credit; post all charges; complete cashier's report, and prepare deposit
- Must be able to balance bank daily
- Must be able to issue, control and release guest safe-deposit boxes
- Must be able to follow company policies and procedures
- Must be able to complete all side work and cleaning duties per standards
- Must be able to confirm credit and payment method at check in and confirm full payment at check out
- Must be able to review rooms inventory and House Count for availability and rates
- Must be able to maintain and understand special guest programs and franchise related programs
- Must be able to conduct daily bank drop with a witness and according to standards
- Must be able to run daily arrival report and identify any special requests
- Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
- Must be able to maintain proper key control on a daily basis
- Must be able to distribute faxes, packages, and mail to guests for delivery or inform guest of receipt as necessary
- Must be able to distribute billing reports to hotel outlets
- Must be able to block large group check ins, motor coach tours and inform Housekeeping of any changes
- Must be able to check with Management prior to end of shift
- Must have thorough knowledge of outside venues and directions to each
- Must have full understanding of the Front Desk system for all guest services
- Must be able to perform other duties as requested by management
- Must be able to attend meetings/training as required by management
- Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends
- Light work-Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Ability to be on your feet throughout most of the entire shift
