Guest Room Supervisor

Job Summary
Supervise and train all housekeeping staff according to company standard operating procedures while setting schedules to ensure all housekeepers perform up to standards. Fill in when other housekeepers are absent and verify that all guest rooms are serviced and cleaned before opening. Inspect vacant rooms for readiness to sell, ensure cleaning equipment is functional, and maintain safe, secure work environments by enforcing company policies. Reconcile daily paperwork with the General Manager prior to shift end and notify management immediately of any safety violations or guest concerns. Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and deliver superior customer service during guest interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple staff members efficiently
- Ability to use time management skills to effectively accomplish tasks
- Possess good knowledge of housekeeping/laundry standard operating procedures and techniques
- Ability to follow instructions, directions and meet deadlines
- Ability to read, understand and interpret information found in a variety of reports and other internal hotel information
- Ability to read, speak and write in an efficient manner to interact with guests and staff
- Ability to compose and express thoughts concisely to ensure effective communication
- Ability and flexibility to work long hours on a regular basis as business conditions demand
- Ability to manage multiple activities often in stressful situations and with time constraints
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma
- Any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Minimum 1-year housekeeping experience with proven skill and performance or 6 months' supervisory experience in rooms division or related position
- Possess good knowledge of housekeeping/laundry operations, cleaning standards and techniques
- Ability to step in and perform a variety of housekeeping/laundry positions in response to business needs
- Ability to visually inspect guest rooms, public areas, service areas, etc. for quality in cleanliness and presentation
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions, cold and heat
- Standing for eight (8) hour shifts
