Job Summary
Greet arriving visitors, welcome them to the Garden, and provide general information about the location and area. Process all admission Point of Sale transactions with high accuracy, handle credit transactions per policy, and actively sell annual garden memberships. Assist visitors with Gift Shop purchases, clean and stock the shop as necessary, and maintain brochure racks and visitor center cleanliness. Gather feedback from visitors to share with management, work to problem solve daily issues, and assist with incoming phone calls and vendor appointments. Direct and assist visitors during events as needed. Requires flexibility to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with a preference for one year of retail experience and strong POS skills.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year retail experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Flexibility of schedule to work shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays
- Experience with POS systems and daily balancing of sales
- Multi-tasking and organizational abilities
- Flexibility and capability to adapt to changes in daily routine and visitor needs
- Basic math, computer skills
- Visual acuity to read details presented on a computer screen
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and card swipe reader
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to effectively respond to multiple, changing and often conflicting priorities
- Ability to effectively interact with the general public of all dispositions and maintain a calm, friendly and pleasant demeanor at all times
