Job Summary
Onboard Sales associate on GSMR trains, engaging with passengers to promote and sell retail merchandise while delivering customer service and regional railroading information. Responsibilities include suggesting sales, managing onboard time to maximize purchases, assisting with passenger boarding, meeting or exceeding sales goals through effective sales techniques, handling customer inquiries, completing required paperwork, maintaining a professional uniform appearance, maintaining onboard inventory, and complying with safety policies. The role involves working varied shifts on the train, interacting with the public in all weather, and leveraging technology (Forms, QR codes, POS systems) to support sales and reporting. Preferred familiarity with Appalachian and regional railroading history, prior customer service or retail experience, and comfort with public speaking and group engagements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven ability in selling, negotiating, and communicating effectively to drive sales
- Must be able to interact effectively with coworkers and passengers
- Available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to constantly improve and adapt to changes easily
- Must meet minimum weekly/monthly sales goals
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Capacity for cash handling and daily reporting skills
