Job Summary
Granite Technical Institute is seeking a qualified CTE Pharmacy Technician Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The instructor will teach the state-approved Pharmacy Technician course with emphasis on helping students build skills for employment, externships, and passing the DOPL licensure test. The role involves delivering the Pharmacy Technician curriculum, preparing students for externships and licensure, collaborating with industry partners to align classroom instruction with workforce needs, utilizing curriculum maps and Proficiency-Based Grading, and using technology to enhance learning. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, differentiating instruction, maintaining safety and classroom environments, communicating with parents, participating in PLCs, and supporting students through the DOPL licensing process and externship opportunities. The position requires USBE/State licensure with a pharmacy technician endorsement (or equivalent), a current DOPL license, and 3+ years of industry experience, with flexibility to obtain additional licensure as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Utah State Board of Education approved licensure (Professional Educator License) with Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration and pharmacy technician endorsement OR Associate Educator License with Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration and pharmacy technician endorsement OR equivalent license in another state with pharmacy technician endorsement
- Current Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist DOPL license
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience (5 years preferred)
- Upload license or eligibility letter as applicable depending on licensure path (out-of-state license, AEL eligibility letter, or current DOPL license)
- Willingness to complete remaining requirements to obtain an Associate license if applicable
- Must pass classroom and lab safety requirements
- Knowledge of computers and instructional technology; ability to teach to USBE Core Curriculum; ability to collaborate with industry partners; ability to implement Proficiency-Based Learning and Proficiency-Based Grading; ability to engage with HOSA; ability to align instruction with workforce needs
- Requires Utah USBE cleared criminal background check
- Requires a pharmacy technician or pharmacy DOPL license
