Job Summary
Implement water, fertilization, and greenhouse cultural programs per crop prescriptions while operating the Argus Environmental Control System for irrigation and climate management. Monitor seedling growth through morphological measurements and tissue nutrient analyses, conducting insect and disease inspections to implement control methods. Maintain accurate computerized records and inspect irrigation lines, injectors, and mixing equipment for proper function. Supervise seasonal irrigation employees and train nursery workers on safe work practices, weeding, and quality control. Follow the Integrated Pest Management program for pesticide application, clean filters, and provide feedback on growing programs to the Production Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of greenhouse equipment and climate control systems
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently
- Strong and professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Great organizational and record keeping skills
- Ability to provide basic maintenance of greenhouse, irrigation facilities, and equipment
- Ability to climb, stand and stoop for an extended period of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regular work hours are 40 hours per week with varying shift times by grow season, weekend work and shift work are required
Desired Qualifications
- Some experience and education in Horticulture
- Pesticide Applicator Certificate
- A degree in horticulture-related field or forest seedling nursery work experience
- Greenhouse monitoring software and hardware experience, preferably Argus
