Job Summary
Lead a preschool classroom with 15-20 children aged 3 to 4 years by collaborating with a partner teacher to implement daily lesson plans and establish positive teacher-child relationships. Develop individual plans for each child based on identified needs, incorporate observations and anecdotal record keeping, and maintain individual, family, and classroom data for documentation and assessment. Establish productive partnerships with families, share pertinent information with the Family Advocate, and participate in case conferences as appropriate. Monitor child outcomes twice yearly, consult with the education coordinator, and adjust curriculum planning and implementation as needed. Follow state regulations regarding child maltreatment prevention and reporting, and complete annual performance evaluations to set professional goals.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Early Childhood Education
- Certified in Early Childhood Education Birth-2nd grade
- Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation
- Successfully clear Comprehensive Background Clearance through Department of Health and Mental Hygiene- Identogo Fingerprint Screening/DOE fingerprints, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry clearance, SEL check, three (3) reference checks, physical examination with updated TB test, varicella, Tdap, MMR
- Obtain Mandated Reporter training certificate (every two (2) years)
- Commit to getting a New York State Early Childhood Education certification within five years
