Job Summary
Conduct American Red Cross group swim lessons for children ages 6 months and up, focusing on skill-based instruction and stroke proficiency. Deliver classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm-7pm or Sundays from 12pm-2pm, while maintaining accurate attendance and performance records. Enforce all safety guidelines and policies of The J and the Aquatics Department. Requires constant communication, repetitive motions, and coordination to demonstrate strokes, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- American Red Cross WSI certified, or able to obtain before start date
- At least 16 years old
- Able to communicate effectively with children and parents
- Able to provide excellent customer service
- Requires constant talking and hearing to communicate instructions with students
- Constant repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination to demonstrate strokes
- Frequent standing
- Ability to walk, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders in and out of pool
- Ability to stoop/crouch
- Good vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance
- Close vision
