Job Summary
Solicit, prospect, and close assigned accounts across market segments to drive hotel revenue and market share. Develop group strategies for assigned markets while collaborating with the Director of Sales and Marketing to balance group business against transient demand. Pursue new sales opportunities and rebook past events to maximize overall revenue. Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Hotel Administration
- equivalent experience
- three to four years of hospitality, corporate, conference or convention sales experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Effective sales and negotiating skills
- Knowledge of sales software, spreadsheet and database applications on PCs
- proficiency with Windows operating systems
- Experience in prospecting for accounts, old and new
- the ability to negotiate and close business
- Ability to respond back to clients on a timely basis
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
