Job Summary

Group Life Counselor II with Sea Mar Community Health Centers in Seattle, WA. Provides direct services in a residential setting as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, including group counseling, intake, evaluation, milieu management, and supervision of patients. Responsibilities include documenting patient progress, preparing reports for courts and referrals, and coordinating with community resources. Requires knowledge of chemical dependency treatment, behavioral health, and regulatory standards (WAC/WIG/RCW); must hold or obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License within 90 days and maintain CPR, First Aid, TB testing, and influenza vaccination. High emphasis on professionalism, client-centered care, and adherence to confidentiality and licensing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree OR high school diploma with at least two years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s degree may replace years of experience)
  • Must possess a current First Aid Certificate
  • Must pass a TB test at time of hire and annually thereafter
  • Annual influenza vaccine required (with medical/religious exemption options)
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license
  • Must pass required background check
  • Must hold and maintain an active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License within 90 days of hire
  • Must obtain CPR certificate within 90 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment
  • Must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient-related information
  • Ability to read, write, and speak effectively; strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with chemical dependency treatment and behavioral health in a residential setting
  • Knowledge of WAC 8-388-877 requirements, WIGs, RCWs
  • Experience providing group counseling and individualized treatment plans
  • Ability to document and report patient progress; familiarity with EIRs and patient records systems
  • Ability to coordinate with courts, probation departments and referral sources
  • Ability to supervise/coach trainees in clinical duties
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Preference for licensure as a Chemical Dependency Professional or eligibility to obtain licensure
