Job Summary
Group Life Counselor II provides direct services in a residential setting as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include group and individual counseling, milieu management, intake, evaluation, and supervision of patients with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health needs. Duties also include maintaining daily records, preparing progress reports, coordinating with courts and referral sources, and ensuring care aligned with agency policies and licensing requirements. Requires knowledge of growth and development, age-appropriate care, clear written and verbal communication, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree OR high school diploma with at least two years relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree may replace years of experience
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Pre-hire health screening; TB test at hire and annually; annual influenza vaccine or approved exemption
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- Active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License within 90 days of hire
- Pass required background check
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- Ability to interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedures
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide group and individual counseling
- Experience with daily documentation in patient records
- Knowledge of WACs, WIGs, RCWs
- Ability to manage and care for patients with chemical dependency and mental health needs
Additional Requirements
- No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for two years prior to employment and while employed
- No felony convictions within last seven years; no history of child abuse or crimes involving physical harm
- Must be able to work with adolescent and adult populations; must meet physical and emotional demands of residential setting
