Job Summary

Supervise and guide youth participants during daily activities, leading structured games, sessions, and events while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. Manage group behavior, address conflicts, and monitor engagement alongside taking attendance. Serve as a positive role model to encourage teamwork and social, emotional, and academic growth for children ages 5 to 13. Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and supervisors to support program operations. This role supports COMPASS, SONYC, Beacon, and Cornerstone afterschool programs at the Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center, partnering with United Activities Unlimited to promote positive outcomes for youth and families.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children ages 5-13
  • At least one year of experience in a classroom, daycare, or school-based setting
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Culturally competent with ability to engage diverse populations
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to take initiative
  • Must pass background checks and required clearances (DOH, DOE, DYCD, UAU)
