Job Summary
Lead groups of children in activities while monitoring their whereabouts and reporting injuries or behavioral issues to the Site Director. Assist with custodial duties to maintain facilities in clean, orderly condition and utilize the site iPad for daily sign-in/out procedures. Maintain positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel while ensuring compliance with state licensing and YMCA requirements. Work 30-34 hours per week across School Age Child Care sites in Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey, or Shelton to fill temporary staffing vacancies.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Have or working towards completing a High School diploma or equivalent
- at least one year of experience working with children
- volunteers
- cooperate with school personnel in a positive, professional manner
- maintain a facility in accordance with state licensing regulations and YMCA requirements
- relate well to children and their families
- Pass background check through DCYF and SSYMCA
- Must complete all SSYMCA required trainings within 45 days of hire
- Complete all DCYF Licensing requirements within 14 days of hire
- Negative Tuberculosis Test
- MMR record
- Current Food Handler Permit
- High School or College Transcripts
- Fingerprints and DCYF background check
- Complete required STARS qualified trainings
- First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens training completed within 45 days of hire
- New Employee Orientation completed within 45 days of hire
- Food Handlers Card completed within the first 7 days of employment or have a current Food Handlers Card
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
- frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and talk and hear
- move freely and quickly throughout YMCA facilities
- communicate effectively with people in person, on the phone and via written correspondence
- use a computer for a significant portion of the work day
- occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
