Job Summary
Supervise and support students from kindergarten through eighth grade by providing active oversight, facilitating engaging educational and recreational activities, and delivering homework assistance. Model respectful behavior and reinforce program expectations to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment while guiding transitions between activities. Complete daily attendance, document participant concerns and incidents, and assist with required reporting to ensure compliance with agency and state policies. Collaborate with program staff to embed social-emotional learning and adapt materials for youth with diverse needs, including those with IEPs. Work Monday through Friday in classroom, gym, and outdoor settings, lifting up to 25 pounds and traveling between sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children under the age of 13
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Availability to work Monday through Friday during the program schedule
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods throughout the workday
- Must be able to lift and carry materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours
- Travel between program sites, schools, agency locations, and community events may be required
- Temporary reassignment to alternate program sites, including summer program locations, may also be required
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree preferred
- Experience working in an afterschool, school, camp, recreation, or youth development setting
- Experience supporting youth with diverse learning, behavioral, or developmental needs
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Fluency in one or more of the following languages is a plus: Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Hindi, or Uzbek
