Job Summary
Facilitate and support a wide variety of afterschool activities including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, life skills development, literacy, leadership, performing arts, and college readiness. Foster social and emotional competencies and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment while implementing PAL supplied curricula. Support planning and implementation of specialized activities, homework help, field trips, and performances under the guidance of specialists. Build positive relationships with youth, colleagues, and caretakers, serving as a role model and adhering to support plans for students with IEPs or medical conditions. Respond appropriately to time-sensitive mental health needs by providing referrals for services such as suicide prevention and grief counseling. Attend meetings with staff, caretakers, and community residents, and actively participate in required training sessions and professional development. Work 15 hours weekly (3 hours daily, 5 days) with a 15-hour orientation requirement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma / GED
- At least 18 years old
- Minimum of two years' work experience in a non-profit agency working with youth
- Strong Classroom management and behavior management skills
- Able to work 15 hours a week (3 hours a day, 5 days a week)
- Able to attend 15 hours of orientation prior to the beginning of programming
- Able to attend scheduled staff meetings and professional development throughout the year
- Employment with PAL is contingent upon successful completion of all the Agency's lawful pre-employment checks, which may include a background check
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred
