Job Summary
Supervise students from Kindergarten through eighth grade by providing active oversight, facilitating educational and recreational activities, and delivering homework assistance. Model respectful behavior to reinforce program expectations while incorporating Social-Emotional Learning through daily check-ins and relationship building. Maintain safe, inclusive spaces by organizing materials, managing transitions between activities, and adapting programs for youth with diverse needs, including those with IEPs. Complete daily attendance records, document behavioral concerns or incidents, and communicate participant issues promptly to supervisors. Collaborate with cross-department teams to ensure consistent program implementation and support continuous quality improvement through data collection.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children under the age of 13
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Availability to work Monday through Friday during the program schedule
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods throughout the workday
- Must be able to lift and carry materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours
- Travel between program sites, schools, agency locations, and community events may be required
- Temporary reassignment to alternate program sites, including summer program locations, may also be required
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree preferred
- Experience working in an afterschool, school, camp, recreation, or youth development setting
- Experience supporting youth with diverse learning, behavioral, or developmental needs
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Fluency in one or more of the following languages is a plus: Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Hindi, or Uzbek
