Job Summary
Lead maintenance on the shift, assigning daily maintenance activities to shift mechanics and supervising their work to ensure production needs are met safely and efficiently. Oversees maintenance programs based on best practices in the baking industry, monitors spare parts inventories, authorizes purchases up to 750, verifies PM tasks in the CMMS, and maintains service and training documentation. Maintains strong two-way communication with production leads; ensures adherence to food safety, QA policies, and sanitation procedures; coordinates with QA, sanitation, and Sanitation departments; supports cost control, downtime reduction, and continuous improvement efforts; willingness to perform preventive maintenance personally when needed and to respond to production emergencies. Requires HS degree with several years of relevant experience in food/ pharmaceutical manufacturing, strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, FDA regulations, safety standards (OSHA), and mechanical/technical troubleshooting, plus ability to lift and operate in challenging environments including freezers and noisy machinery.
Required Qualifications
- HS degree or GED
- 3 years of experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization
- 5 years industrial mechanic experience
- experience operating lift equipment and moving heavy equipment
- knowledge of FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, food allergens and pest control
- ability to analyze and resolve problems
- ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment
- able to perform lifting up to 50 pounds and work in production environments with temperature variations (freezers)
