Job Summary
The Maintenance Group Leader oversees the safe maintenance, repair and efficiency of all equipment during the shift when the Supervisor is not on duty. Responsibilities include assigning daily maintenance activities to shift mechanics, supervising maintenance staff to meet production needs, implementing the maintenance program with a focus on safety and interdepartmental coordination, monitoring spare parts and inventory, authorizing purchases up to $750, managing preventive maintenance (PM) assignments and reports in the CAMS system, ensuring compliance with food safety and QA policies, maintaining service reports and manuals, coordinating with QC and Sanitation, and guiding a team to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. The role requires HS degree or GED, 3 years of relevant experience, 5 years of industrial mechanic experience, knowledge of FDA regs, GMPs, HACCP, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in freezers and noisy environments, and operate SAP/MLO and electrical troubleshooting; candidates must be flexible with hours and ready to respond to emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- HS degree or GED
- 3 years of experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization
- 5 years industrial mechanic experience
- Knowledge of FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, food allergens and pest control
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards, product safety, quality and cost control
- SAP / MLO - reading, arithmetic, Electrical Troubleshooting & Controls
- Will be required to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and balancing
- Must be available to be contacted by maintenance personnel and reasonably available to report to work in cases of emergency
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
- Must regularly perform preventative maintenance or repairs to equipment personally
