Job Summary
Group Leader direct reports to manage an Inorganic/Nutrition laboratory testing group, ensuring high-quality testing services, QA/QC compliance, punctual sample flow, and efficient testing operations. Responsibilities include planning and supervising daily group activities, allocating workload, mentoring Chemist levels, coordinating resources (staffing, equipment, and supplies), collaborating with department supervisors, leading R&D and implementation of new Inorganic/Nutrition technologies, supporting QA and regulatory compliance, participating in market research and professional development, and acting as a technical resource for sales and client inquiries. Emphasizes leadership, analytical method development, HRMS/Orbitrap instrumentation, data validation, safety practices, training, and cross-department collaboration to maintain laboratory accreditation and drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science
- 3-5 years supervisory experience in a lab setting
- Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and/or cutting-edge new technologies
- Experience with instrument implementation and validation
- Experience with sample processing and extraction method development (pesticides and process contaminants in food matrices)
- Analytical method troubleshooting and development
- Mentoring and training others (extraction, analytical, instrument methodology)
- Collaboration with different business departments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Knowledge of SOPs, analytical methods, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and scientific documents
- Ability to develop and implement safety and quality-control measures
