Job Summary
Group Leader for Summer program in Williamsburg responsible for promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image among youth. Lead and supervise summer camp activities, provide homework help, literacy and math lessons, and design unit-based curricula. Must maintain a safe, engaging environment, supervise staff and participants, coordinate schedules, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Duties include training, group management, collaboration with coworkers, keeping attendance and incident logs, and communicating with parents. Requires high school diploma (college degree preferred), significant youth development experience, curricular design/teaching experience with youth, and successful completion of background checks; CPR/First Aid certifications preferred. Position is contingent on funding with July 1–August 31 dates and a Monday–Friday schedule, 8am-6pm variations. Apply with resume and thoughtful cover letter; references required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma a must; college degree preferred
- Youth development experience
- Experience teaching and designing curricula
- Three (3) or more years’ experience working with youth
- Three (3) or more years’ experience coaching, instructing, or facilitating curriculum-based lessons
- Ability to pass NYSDOH Fingerprinting, Background Check, TB test, and references
- CPR/AED certification preferred
- First Aid/RTE certification preferred

- Must successfully complete NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; New York State Clearance Review Background Check; 3 Reference Checks; Physical with updated TB Test

- Ability to communicate effectively with students and families
- Outdoor/field activity supervision
