Job Summary
Facilitate afterschool activities including SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, literacy, and performing arts while fostering social-emotional competencies in a safe, inclusive environment. Support planning and implementation of specialized activities, homework help, field trips, and mealtimes under the guidance of specialists. Implement supplied curricula, build positive relationships with youth and caretakers, and serve as a role model. Monitor students with IEPs and medical conditions, responding appropriately to time-sensitive mental health needs by providing referrals when necessary. Attend staff meetings, professional development, and special events while maintaining open communication with caretakers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma / GED
- At least 18 years old
- Minimum of two years' work experience in a non-profit agency working with youth
- Strong Classroom management and behavior management skills
- Open to learning and growing
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Able to work 15 hours a week (3 hours a day, 5 days a week)
- Able to attend 15 hours of orientation prior to the beginning of programming
- Able to attend scheduled staff meetings and professional development throughout the year
- Employment with PAL is contingent upon successful completion of all the Agency's lawful pre-employment checks, which may include a background check
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred
