Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Common Core Standards to facilitate daily activities in Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and cultural enrichment. Maintain active supervision of children at all times, respond to behavioral and medical concerns, and document attendance and incidents per policy. Foster an inclusive classroom culture, collaborate with site supervisors and school staff, and ensure classrooms are stocked with necessary materials. Attend required trainings and meetings while performing other duties as assigned. This role supports positive youth development for children ages 5-12 through the COMPASS after-school program.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience working with elementary-aged children in a structured educational, recreational, or youth development setting
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing engaging lesson plans and structured group activities
- Strong classroom management and behavioral guidance skills
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices
- Knowledge of positive youth development principles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in the role, including participating in training, accepting feedback, and building new skills
- Demonstrated growth mindset and openness to reflective practice
- Social and emotional maturity
