Job Summary
Group Leader, Cornerstone Mitchel at East Side House will design and lead diverse enrichment activities for youth in after-school programs. The role involves creating age-appropriate, thematically-based lesson plans, collaborating with a team, preparing a welcoming learning environment, building positive relations with youth and adults, ensuring health and safety, assisting with enrollment and attendance documentation, inspecting facilities and materials, supporting leadership development and community building, organizing materials and activities, maintaining program documentation, communicating the organization’s mission, and participating in professional development and required trainings. The role also includes organizing and participating in external events to promote the agency’s mission and ensuring adherence to agency policies. The position is part-time (up to 20 hours weekly) with evening hours and requires various clearances and trainings as listed in the job description.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- Must have experience working with elementary schools, preferably in a racially, ethically, and socio-emotionally diverse urban community
- Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required
- A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities and field practice
- Possess and ability to engage and lead activities in your area of specialty; strong communication skills, strong organizational skills, excellent judgment, ability to work in a team in various environments
- Candidates possessing skills in foreign languages, visual arts, music, or performing arts are strongly encouraged to apply
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all participants while remaining professional at all times
- Must be able to motivate the students while setting an example in all areas, including responsibility, timeliness, organization, attendance, and most importantly, professionalism
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Being bilingual is a plus
