Job Summary
Lead elementary and middle school-aged youth in groups of 10 to 20 across the games room, learning center, and outdoor area through recreational and developmental activities. Plan and instruct varied programs while ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols, monitoring member behavior, and enforcing safety policies. Manage daily set-up and clean-up of materials, prepare and cook food service items, and perform janitorial duties such as mopping, disinfecting, and trash removal. Cultivate positive relationships with members, parents, and staff, and accurately maintain program attendance records. Respond immediately to conflicts or emergencies and complete required safety drills and risk assessments.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED
- some college experience
- combination of knowledge and experience
- 48 units of college curriculum
- completion of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE)
- combination of knowledge and experience
- one 1 year experience working directly with school aged youth
- knowledge of youth development
- ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- instruct, coach and direct varied activities
- Proficient computer skills
- Microsoft Office
- internet research
- social media navigation
- skills for instruction, direction and guidance
- ability to lead and control groups of children in various recreational and educational activities and settings
- Respond according to procedure for emergency and disciplinary situations
- CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire
- ability to be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours each day
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- maintaining a drug free work environment
- Possess, or be willing to obtain, a California Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B license certification
