Job Summary
Promote healthy living and prevent illness by accompanying individuals to community outings, teaching independent living skills, and fostering positive relationships. Support personal care needs, assist with medication administration where permitted, and document all care provided. Increase self-advocacy awareness while promoting decision-making about living, work, and social relationships. Provide education on human and civil rights, connect people with resources for career and education opportunities, and maintain strict confidentiality. Complete pre-employment screening, including background checks and drug testing, as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid drivers' license
- Ability to maintain good work attendance
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Complete criminal background
- Name checked in the registries (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
- Drug testing
- Education verification
- Proof of employment history or references
- Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle
