Group Head of L&D Academy

Job Summary
Defining and leading MBDA's Group (International) Academy strategy to develop employees in culture, leadership, transformation, technical excellence, and future skills. Responsibilities include shaping governance and operating models for the Academy (LMS/LXP/TMS), designing high-impact learning solutions in partnership with HR and business units, accelerating pedagogical innovation and digital learning (AI, data-enabled tools), and managing the Academy's performance (budget, suppliers, ROI, KPIs) while overseeing a multicultural European team (~25 people) and coordinating regular travel within Europe to MBDA subsidiaries and program locations. The role reports to the VP of HR Learning and Development and requires frequent overseas travel, fluency in English and French, and eligibility for BPSS security checks. The position offers hybrid working, a salary range of about £75,000–£90,000 (dependent on experience), and benefits including a bonus, car allowance, pension, enhanced parental leave, private medical insurance, and other staff amenities.
Required Qualifications
- Solid background in Learning, Talent Management, or Academy management in complex/international environments
- Experience leading international teams with inclusive leadership and intercultural sensitivity
- Strong expertise in skills and leadership development; designing impactful learning programs
- Experience with learning ecosystems (LMS, LXP, TMS) and pedagogical innovation, including digital learning and AI
- Willingness to travel regularly within Europe for group subsidiaries and program locations
- Ability to define and lead an Academy strategy aligned with business objectives
- Experience managing budgets, vendors/suppliers, and KPIs for learning initiatives
- Ability to build and implement governance, tools, and processes for consistent training delivery
- Fluency in English; French language skills are essential
