Group Fitness Instructor (Temporary)

Job Summary
Develop and implement group fitness classes emphasizing fun, safety, and effective conditioning under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director. Arrive at least 10 minutes before class and ensure on-time start and end times while clocking in and recording attendance. Conduct classes using the microphone headset, maintaining general cleanliness and safety of the room before, during, and after sessions. Manage equipment storage and find appropriate substitutes prior to class, notifying the Assistant Director 24 hours in advance for any substitutions. Treat all participants with respect and adhere to all Department of Wellness and Recreation policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a current nationally recognized fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFAA, or equivalent)
- Ability to conduct safe and effective classes
- Knowledgeable in techniques and dynamics of group exercise
- Knowledge in a variety of group exercise class formats
- Possession of current certification(s) for specific class formats, including adult CPR/AED
- Knowledge of cardiovascular exercise and strength training principles
- Good communication skills
- Must adhere to the Wellness and Recreation and University policies and procedures
- Must be reliable and dependable
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching or leading group exercise classes
- Available to work during winter and summer breaks
