Job Summary
Group Fitness Instructor at Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center leads safe, well-structured, and engaging group fitness classes. Responsibilities include greeting participants, guiding proper warm-ups and cool-downs, offering clear instructions and cues, assisting with form and technique, and providing modifications for varying fitness levels. Arrive early to set up, refresh choreography and music, and respond to emergencies. Ensure safety by identifying unsafe conditions and reporting them. Maintain certifications, participate in trainings, promote rec programs, and communicate professionally with participants. Qualifications include a current Group Fitness Instructor Certification, 1–2 years of teaching experience, CPR/AED First Aid certificate, ability to pass a university background check, and knowledge of established exercise techniques and standards. This is a part-time, hourly role with the potential to teach multiple classes per week, including weekends.
