Job Summary
Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes to support the YMCA mission, modifying instruction to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs. Answer participant questions regarding health and wellness goals while building authentic relationships that connect members with one another and the organization. Maintain working knowledge of current trends to provide effective information, observe class dynamics to support all capabilities, and celebrate individual achievements. Keep accurate attendance records, follow policies, and respond to emergency situations as directed.
Required Qualifications
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- AED certification
- national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification
- Certification in areas of expertise
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire
- Ability to conduct classes and activities
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes
