Job Summary
Provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Deliver group fitness instruction while maintaining a safe, enjoyable, and positive atmosphere. Perform other duties as assigned. This role requires CPR, First Aid, and AED certification alongside national group fitness instruction credentials (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM). At least one year of teaching experience is preferred. The position involves medium physical exertion including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and visual acuity tasks. Activities occur inside and outside in noisy environments requiring shouting to be heard. Compensation ranges from $22.00 to $38.00 per hour, with a +10% differential for bilingual staff. Required Qualifications
- CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to climb: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
- Ability to balance: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces
- Ability to stoop: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Ability to kneel: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees
- Ability to crouch: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
- Ability to reach: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Ability to stand: Particularly for sustained periods of time
- Ability to push: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
- Ability to pull: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion
- Ability to lift: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position
- Ability to grasp: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
- Ability to talk: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Ability to hear: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned
Desired Qualifications
