Job Summary
Leads group exercise classes following YMCA standards and guidelines. Communicates and enforces wellness center rules at participants’ comprehension level. Trains participants in a demonstrative and professional manner. Watches and corrects participants for unsafe exercise. Promotes YMCA programs. Arrives early to start duties, sets up/takes down equipment, begins/ends classes on time, takes attendance, ensures proper participant registration, educates on appropriate attire, teaches entire session, finds substitutes for sickness/vacations, builds positive relationships, remains visible on duty, and motivates participants toward healthy lifestyle choices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science/related field or applicable experience (preferred)
- Certifications helpful: Personal Training and Group Exercise Instructor
- Minimum of six months class participation experience or fitness class assistant
- Interest in the fitness field
