Job Summary
Lead fitness and related classes following YMCA standards, teaching the entire session while setting up and taking down equipment. Communicate wellness center rules, correct unsafe exercise behaviors, and ensure participants are registered and appropriately attired. Begin classes 10 to 15 minutes early, take attendance, and remain visible to provide motivational support and guidance. Promote healthy lifestyle factors and develop positive relationships with members. Arrive on time to start assigned duties and find substitutes for sickness or vacations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
Desired Qualifications
- 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science/related field
- applicable experience
- Certifications which are helpful include Personal Training and Group Exercise Instructor
- Minimum of six months class participation experience
- fitness class assistant experience
- high level of interest in the fitness field
