Job Summary
Teach and lead group exercise classes within the Health and Wellness department, maintaining safe, effective, modified, and accessible routines; welcome members, track attendance, and motivate participants; assess participants’ needs and provide feedback; enforce facility policies to ensure safety and well-being; instruct proper exertion and breathing during classes; embody YMCA values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility) in interactions; communicate the mission and programs to members; supervision and coordination of trainings and program activities; requires at least 18 years old and certification from recognized national organizations; 6 months to 1 year of group exercise experience preferred; completion of YMCA trainings upon hire; ability to respond professionally to injuries and emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Group Fitness Instructor Certification from one or more of the following: AFAA (with certification prior to October 2023), ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, or other nationally recognized through NCCA; tested; renewal required
- If only teaching Yoga, must be registered with RYA
