Job Summary
Group Exercise Instructor teaches scheduled group exercise classes at LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center in a medically integrated health and fitness setting. Responsibilities include providing modifications for varying fitness levels, delivering safe instruction with knowledge of contraindicated exercises, maintaining in-good-standing industry certifications with continuing education, ensuring proper setup and timely class start/end, reporting equipment needs promptly, recording participation numbers after each class, minimizing missed classes and arranging substitutes when needed, delivering a fun and engaging participant experience, and supporting departmental and organizational goals. The role requires flexibility with center hours and schedules, and CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire. Preference is given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED and a group exercise instructor certification (ideally NCCA-accredited) and/or NCCA Personal Trainer certification for non-licensed formats, with at least 2 years of relevant instructional experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- group exercise instructor certification required
- NCCA accredited certification preferred or Nationally recognized NCCA Personal Trainer certification (for non-licensed formats)
- certification for some specialty group exercise class instruction required
- minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction preferred
- CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism
