Job Summary
The Group Exercise Instructor will lead group classes focused on enhancing overall fitness, strength, and endurance while ensuring member safety. Responsibilities include pre-class preparation by greeting participants and ensuring equipment is ready, instructing and monitoring fitness techniques during class, and handling post-class tasks such as feedback collection and classroom organization. Instructors need to have at least six months of experience in a teaching capacity, knowledge of exercise techniques, and hold certifications in group fitness and CPR. Additional interpersonal skills and the ability to manage audio equipment are required.
Required Qualifications
- At least six months teaching in a group exercise format
- Knowledge of safe exercise technique and group exercise principles
- Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics
- Performance of a variety of exercise routines
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment
- Group fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM
- Current CPR certification and basic first aid training
- Physical demands include ability to lift light weights, bending, squatting, jumping, running, reaching, walking, hopping, spinning and kicking
