Job Summary
Teach group exercise classes as scheduled, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels; understand contraindicated exercises to ensure safe and effective workouts; maintain industry certifications in good standing and fulfill continuing education requirements; ensure proper setup and cleanup so classes start and end on time; report equipment needs promptly; record attendance; maintain reliability by avoiding missed classes and arranging substitutes when needed; provide a fun, engaging experience while working toward department and organizational goals; flexible and accommodating to center hours and schedules; support members with positive service and clear communication; must hold a high school diploma or GED and a qualifying group exercise instructor certification with CPR/AED within 90 days; preferred NCCA-accredited certification and additional specialty certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Group exercise instructor certification required
- CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction
- NCCA accredited certification preferred
- Nationally recognized NCCA Personal Trainer certification accepted for certain classes (not licensed formats)
