Job Summary
The Group Exercise Instructor – Barre will teach group exercise classes as scheduled for members and guests, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels. Responsibilities include ensuring class safety by understanding contraindicated exercises, maintaining certification in good standing with ongoing CE requirements, arriving early for setup, keeping the class area clean, reporting equipment issues, recording participation, and coordinating substitutes when needed. The role requires engaging participants, aligning with departmental and organizational goals, and remaining flexible to center hours. The position is part of a team of full-time and part-time staff at Orland Park Health & Fitness Center, managed by Power Wellness Management, and includes a pay rate of $30-$35 per hour based on experience and credentials. The job emphasizes delivering a fun, safe, and professional group fitness experience and maintaining a high standard of customer service in a medically integrated health and fitness environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Group Exercise Instructor certification required (preferably NCCA accredited)
- Nationally recognized NCCA Personal Trainer certification acceptable for strength/conditioning classes not requiring specialized formats (Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Les Mills, MOSSA, BARRE, Aqua, Cycle)
- Some specialty class instruction certification is required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction, teaching a variety of styles, levels and populations preferred
- CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire
